MEWA Principal's Announcements

Our Mission:
The Metro East Web Academy provides a technology-rich 21st century learning model that ensures student success in a rapidly evolving learning, work, and community environment.

MEWA will be closed for Winter Break from 12/21 to 1/2. The Office will re-open on 1/5.

One of MEWA's Middle School Students in 7th grade LilyAnna Steele earned Level 4 Beam State Champion this past weekend. Here she is on the left with her coach Danita Rigert and team-mate Gabby.

Dear students, in an effort to improve our school and meet requirements for our annual GBSD charter school evaluation and AdvancEd accreditation, we ask that you complete this short 10 question survey.  It should take no longer than 5 to 10 minutes.  Please click on this link.

Who wants a $100 Best Buy gift card? MEWA wants to fill our SnowCap barrel!  In the spirit of giving, bring in your food donation by January 16, 2015 to be entered into a raffle drawing for a $100 Best Buy gift card.

Parents, we need your help in filling out this short 10 question survey.  It should take no longer than 5 to 10 minutes. This survey is a requirement from GBSD as part of our charter contract and is necessary for our continued AdvancEd accreditation.  The accreditation is important as it makes our diplomas more valuable when students choose to go on to other endeavors. Please click on this link.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to help us out.

    • MATH SEGMENT EXAMS on MEWA Campus (Mr. Kitchens' classes)
The math department requires that students take their Segment Exams at MEWA. That's why there is password protection on these exams. You will need to pick a day to come out to MEWA to take your test.

You have options for taking the exam at MEWA.

    1. During a Drop-in Lab. You can take the exam in any drop-in laboratory (except for Ms. Riehl’s math labs -- do not plan to take your Segment Exam during these), and any teacher who is in that lab will know the password and be able to type it in for you.  If you are okay with a little bit of activity (i.e., a typical drop-in lab at MEWA), then just pick one that you'd like to go to.
    1. During an “Exam-only” Special Lab. Take your exam during an "Exam-only" Special Lab. If you are a student who needs to have a more quiet experience, then you’ll want this option.

    • NOTE: For Mr. Kitchens' students, the first scheduled “Exam-only” Segment Exam session is Monday, 15 Dec, 2 - 4 pm. RSVP here (NOTE: you must be logged into your mewebacademy.org email to access this form).

    Preparation for Your Segment Exam

    • Make sure to allow for at least two hours to finish each Segment Exam. You have to finish your exam in one sitting (i.e., you can't save progress).
    • Prior to taking the Segment Exam, make sure you’ve re-accomplished any retry-allowed (blue arrow) assignments. If you have any questions on these, see me for help.
    • Get a good night’s rest and eat a good meal the morning of.

Best wishes on your Segment Exams!

    Mr. K
