Virtual School Capitol Day 2015

We had a great turnout of families, students, and staff who attended our school wide field trip to Salem last Thursday April 16. We meet with Legislators, watched the Legislator awards, had lunch, and toured the capitol.

We want thank all the families, students, and staff who attended and supported MEWA during this event!

Smarter Balance State Testing!

11th Grade SBAC Testing: NEXT WEEK!

Attention all 11th graders!

1. Next week begins your Smarter Balanced State Testing at MEWA. Remember, it''s required for all juniors! We will begin promptly on 4/28, and you will be able to choose between either a 4/28 and 4/29 block, or a 4/30 and 5/1 block. You must be here on both days. Please sign up now, here. 2. All of your courses will be put "on hold" beginning 4/28, until you have finished your tests.

Let us know if you have any questions!

"State testing is required by the State of Oregon. It's important to complete these, and we will support you in every way that we can. You should attend one of the practice sessions to prepare, too! Remember, completing them is part of your enrollment agreement for MEWA/MEECA. Please sign up now, and be well rested on the day of the test, and be on time. You can do this!"

Attention Seniors:

Math work samples are taking place every Tuesday from 2:30 to 4pm with Mrs. Riehl.

All work samples are due for graduation by May 15th. Time is running out.

Community Gardening-- Earn Community Service Hours or Extended Study

Are you interested in gardening, and want to earn some community service hours or extended study? MEWA needs help tending to our community garden plot this spring and summer! The garden needs an overhaul, so be willing to put in work and get a little dirty while you are giving back to the community. If you are interested in helping to plan and plant, contact Ms Hathaway.

It's time to start thinking about graduation on June 8th! Most importantly, MEWA gives away two scholarships: We will draw one name from graduates in attendance the night of the ceremony for The Founders Scholarship of $1,000! For students who attend our graduation practice earlier in the day of the ceremony, we will draw one name for The Keller-Sievers Scholarship Award of $500!

The BYU Foreign Language Achievement Test (FLATS) will be taking place on WEDNESDAY MAY 6th from 4-7 pm.

You can earn up to two high school credits toward your Foreign Language/ Fine Art credit if you pass the test. If you speak a second language this is a great opportunity!

This is only for students that have not yet taken the FLATS test.

If you would like to take the FLATS test you must sign up no later than MONDAY, APRIL 20th. See the attached link below and fill out the form. Make sure you choose which language you want to take.
