Dear Parent/Guardian
and Student:
We are off to a great start thanks to our hardworking staff! Our early college program is now full and our middle school program is near full. We anticipate that we will be full in all of our programs by Thanksgiving. So if you know of anyone out there wanting to get into MEWA -- this is the time to do so.
Our Launch and Surf classes are up and running. By now you have met our Parent Resource Advocate, Nichole Steele, and have heard of all the wonderful opportunities parents and guardians will have working together in partnership with our school to better the experience for our students and families. Please give her a call if you need support or just want to talk. (See brochure below)
Our MEWA app is in full operation (see download information at the bottom of this message). This will be one of the main forms of communication with students, parents and staff this year. Especially in the event of an emergency or the need to get information out quickly to our various groups, so please download now if you have not already done so.

Metro East Web Academy will be offering school lunch for the 2014-15 school year.
What: MEWA School Lunch Program
Where: CAL Lunch Room - Meet in the front of the CAL school or in the MEWA lobby at 10:40am and sign in with a MEWA staff member and the group will walk into CAL as a group.
When: Tuesday – Friday (Beginning September 2, 2014)
10:40am – 11:00am
High School Lunch Prices: 2014-15
Full Price: $2.50
Student Reduced Prices: $.40
Please have cash available to pay for your lunch unless you have qualified for free lunch.

Name: Avenues of Social Media with Fiona Wylde
Details: Fiona Wylde is a senior at MEWA and Professional Water Athlete from Hood River, Oregon. She travels to compete world wide in windsurfing and stand up paddling and has created a social media umbrella to push her career to the next level! Come to MEWA, learn what it's like to be a student athlete and how to promote onesself to the right audiences!

Chess Club is back at MEWA -- we start back up on Wednesday, Sep 17, from 2-3:15 pm. Some of you will notice that we had to move the day from Thursday to Wednesday. Well, after a summer of rest, I sure hope you're ready to dive back into some chess. It should be a really good year, especially as you return as champs (i..,remember how the students overcame the staff in last Spring's seasons finale! I understand the staff is working hard to improve on their skills. For instance, our Principal has a board in his office now.) Anyway, I look forward to seeing you all on Sep 17th!

Video Game Design using Art & Math begins Tuesday, Sep 9th (10 - 11 am). We will be meeting virtually in Adobe Connect. Check the syllabus for the Adobe Connect link. Also, make sure to go through the preparation steps in the syllabus by the day before, just to make sure your computer is ready to go. Make sure to sign on no later than 10 am so you don't miss any key info. We can't wait to get started!

Techtown comes back next week! We are looking for some students who are interested in learning about all things technology and bringing their knowledge to the rest of MEWA. If you would like to be part of the Techtown pilot program please plan on coming to MEWA Wednesday the 10th at 12:30pm. We hope that you can come and be part of this exciting opportunity!
